A breathtaking sunset journey through Santorini’s legendary caldera, volcanic beauty & iconic coastal wonders
Step aboard Water Blue Yachting’s elegant ADONIS luxury motor sailor and experience Santorini from its most magical perspective — the sea. This carefully curated 6-hour sunset cruise offers an unforgettable voyage through the island’s world-famous caldera and spectacular southern coastline, blending volcanic beauty, iconic landmarks, crystal-clear waters, authentic Greek hospitality, and the enchanting colors of Santorini’s sunset into one extraordinary sailing experience.
Your journey begins from Athinios Port, Santorini’s dramatic harbor nestled beneath towering volcanic cliffs — the gateway to the island’s breathtaking caldera. As ADONIS gently sails into Santorini’s volcanic basin, guests are immediately surrounded by dramatic cliffsides, whitewashed villages, and awe-inspiring scenery that make Santorini one of the world’s most extraordinary destinations.
Our first destination takes us into the heart of Santorini’s volcanic story — toward the island’s legendary Volcano & Volcanic Hot Springs, where guests will enjoy the cruise’s first swimming stop. Here, you may immerse yourself in warm, mineral-rich sulphurous waters naturally heated by Santorini’s living volcanic core — a truly unique swimming experience unlike any other.
Please note: swimming in the Hot Springs is not recommended for guests with heart conditions due to the warm sulphurous waters and mineral concentration.
Leaving the volcanic waters behind, ADONIS continues north through the caldera, sailing past the charming Old Port of Fira, once Santorini’s principal harbor and lifeline to the outside world, resting dramatically beneath the cliffs of the island’s capital.
Continuing onward, we glide beneath the majestic Skaros Rock, the imposing volcanic outcrop of Imerovigli that once served as Santorini’s medieval fortress capital and remains one of the island’s most breathtaking landmarks.
Our voyage then carries us past the picturesque Eftapaides Chapel and the striking Saint Nikolaos Chapel Rock, two iconic caldera landmarks that beautifully reflect Santorini’s Cycladic spirituality and dramatic volcanic landscape.
Sailing further north, we approach the enchanting waters of Ammoudi Bay in Oia, one of Santorini’s most postcard-perfect harbors, framed by deep sapphire waters, red volcanic cliffs, and Oia’s world-famous whitewashed village perched high above. This area offers some of the cruise’s most spectacular photo opportunities.
Across the caldera lies Thirasia Island, Santorini’s peaceful sister island — untouched, authentic, and rich in traditional Cycladic character. Here, guests will enjoy the cruise’s second swimming stop in crystal-clear Aegean waters surrounded by the island’s serene natural beauty.
From there, ADONIS sails toward the opposite side of Santorini, revealing the island’s spectacular volcanic coastline and world-famous beaches.
We cruise past the iconic Red Beach, celebrated for its dramatic crimson volcanic cliffs and rust-colored sands, before continuing toward the peaceful volcanic cove of Mesa Pigadia Beach, where guests may enjoy another refreshing swimming stop beneath Santorini’s rugged southern cliffs.
Continuing along the coastline, we sail past the dazzling White Beach, accessible only by sea and framed by towering pale volcanic cliffs sculpted over centuries by volcanic activity and sea erosion.
Our voyage then carries us beneath the dramatic Black Cliffs, past the legendary Indian Rock formation, and onward to the historic Akrotiri Lighthouse, standing proudly at Santorini’s southwestern edge where endless panoramic sea views stretch across the Aegean.
As the afternoon slowly melts into evening, guests may relax onboard and enjoy a freshly prepared Mediterranean meal, thoughtfully crafted with authentic Greek flavors and local ingredients, accompanied by local wine, refreshing beverages, and the gentle rhythm of the sea.
As sunset approaches, ADONIS returns into the heart of Santorini’s caldera, where guests witness the island slowly glow beneath golden light, with fiery amber, soft pink, and deep orange hues painting the cliffs, sea, and sky alike. Watching Santorini’s world-famous sunset from the deck of ADONIS, surrounded by the volcanic beauty of the caldera, creates a truly unforgettable finale to the experience.
Returning to Athinios Port beneath the colors of twilight, guests leave with unforgettable memories, spectacular photographs, and the rare privilege of having experienced Santorini’s legendary beauty aboard one of the island’s most elegant sailing vessels.
Please note: Cruise routes and swimming stops may vary slightly depending on weather and sea conditions, always prioritizing guest comfort and safety.
At the heart of Santorini’s caldera lies the island’s living volcanic core — the Volcano & Volcanic Hot Springs — where warm sulphurous waters rich in minerals naturally flow into the sea through underwater volcanic activity. Their distinctive amber-colored waters, therapeutic mineral content, and unique warmth offer guests the rare opportunity to swim in one of the world’s most extraordinary volcanic landscapes.
Resting at the foot of Santorini’s dramatic cliffs beneath the island’s capital, Old Port of Fira was once the island’s principal harbor and lifeline to the outside world. Today, it remains one of Santorini’s most iconic coastal landmarks, where traditional island heritage meets breathtaking caldera views and timeless Cycladic charm.
Rising majestically from the sea beneath Imerovigli, Skaros Rock is one of Santorini’s most historic and dramatic landmarks. Once the island’s medieval fortress capital, this imposing volcanic outcrop served as a strategic stronghold during Venetian rule. Today, it stands as a powerful symbol of Santorini’s rich past, offering one of the most spectacular sights in the caldera.
Gracefully perched along Santorini’s rugged caldera cliffs, Eftapaides Chapel is a charming whitewashed chapel that beautifully reflects the island’s deep spiritual roots and Cycladic simplicity. Set against endless blue sea and sky, it creates one of the route’s most serene and photogenic moments.
Perched dramatically upon a volcanic rock formation within the caldera, Saint Nikolaos Chapel is one of Santorini’s hidden coastal gems — a picturesque symbol of Cycladic faith surrounded by endless Aegean blue and breathtaking volcanic scenery.
Tucked beneath the world-famous village of Oia, Ammoudi Bay is one of Santorini’s most enchanting harbors. Framed by striking red volcanic cliffs and crystal-clear sapphire waters, this picturesque bay captures the raw beauty of the island, while Oia’s whitewashed homes cascading above create one of Santorini’s most postcard-perfect views.
Standing proudly on Santorini’s southwestern edge since the late 19th century, Akrotiri Lighthouse is one of Greece’s oldest lighthouses and one of the island’s most romantic viewpoints. Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and endless Aegean blue, it marks the meeting point of sea, sky, and Santorini’s timeless maritime heritage.
Lying quietly across the caldera, Thirasia Island is Santorini’s peaceful sister island — untouched by mass tourism and rich in authentic Cycladic character. Once part of Santorini before the great volcanic eruption thousands of years ago, Thirasia offers a rare glimpse into traditional island life, where simplicity, natural beauty, and timelessness remain beautifully preserved.
One of Santorini’s most extraordinary natural wonders, Red Beach was formed through volcanic activity that shaped the island thousands of years ago, creating its dramatic crimson cliffs and rust-colored sands. Considered one of the world’s rare red-sand beaches, its striking landscape feels almost otherworldly, making it one of Santorini’s most iconic sights.
Nestled beneath Santorini’s dramatic southern cliffs, Mesa Pigadia is a peaceful volcanic cove known for its crystal-clear waters, rugged beauty, and authentic island character. Surrounded by striking rock formations and natural caves, it remains one of Santorini’s hidden coastal treasures and an idyllic swimming location.
Carved by Santorini’s powerful volcanic history, White Beach was formed through layers of volcanic ash, pumice stone, lava deposits, and mineral-rich rock shaped by eruption, wind, and sea. Its towering pale cliffs contrast beautifully against the deep cobalt waters of the Aegean, creating one of the island’s most enchanting coastal landscapes.
Towering dramatically above the sea, Santorini’s Black Cliffs reveal the raw power of the island’s volcanic origins. Formed from ancient lava deposits and volcanic rock, their dark rugged beauty creates one of the most striking landscapes along Santorini’s coastline.
Naturally sculpted over centuries by volcanic activity, wind, and sea erosion, Indian Rock is one of Santorini’s most fascinating natural formations. Its distinctive shape resembles the profile of a human face, making it one of the island’s most unique geological landmarks.
